Delete Your Account

The fastest way to delete your account is directly inside the ooverlap app:

• Open the ooverlap app and go to your profile.
• Tap the three-dot menu in the top right.
• Tap "Account Settings".
• Scroll down and tap "Delete Account".
• If you signed up with email, you will be asked to confirm your password.
• Optionally provide a reason for leaving.
• If you own any spaces, you will be asked what should happen to each one. You can transfer ownership to a co-admin, or leave the space to be scheduled for deletion — transferring is not required, and nothing blocks you from deleting your account.
• Tick the box confirming you understand the deletion is permanent, then tap "Delete Account" to confirm.

Your account will be deleted immediately after confirmation.

Please include the email address associated with your ooverlap account so we can identify and process your request.

We will process your request within 30 days in accordance with applicable data protection law.

You do not have to close your account to have data removed. Most of what you create can be deleted by you directly in the app — messages, photos, voice notes and documents you sent, polls and lists you created, your RSVPs, and the details on your profile.

For anything you cannot remove yourself, you can ask us to delete specific personal data while keeping your account. Write to:

Tell us which data you mean and include the email address associated with your account so we can identify it. We will respond within 30 days in accordance with applicable data protection law.

This is one of the rights set out in our Privacy Policy, alongside access, rectification, restriction of processing, objection and data portability.

When your account is deleted, we take the following steps:

• Your profile information (name, bio, photo, links) is removed or anonymized.
• Your authentication credentials are permanently deleted — you can no longer sign in.
• Your chat messages are anonymized to "[Message from deleted user]", and any photos, voice notes and documents you sent are deleted.
• Your memberships in spaces and groups are removed.
• Your rides, votes, likes and RSVPs are deleted.
• Your profile images, avatars and uploaded receipts are deleted from storage.
• If you first joined through an invite link, the guest record holding the name and email address you entered is deleted.
• References to your user ID across the platform are removed or anonymized.

Because ooverlap includes collaborative features such as events, polls, lists, and shared galleries, some contributions may remain within the event context but will be anonymized so that other users can no longer identify you.

Owning a space does not prevent you from deleting your account. During the deletion process the app asks what should happen to each space you own, and you can either transfer ownership to a co-admin or leave it.

Any space you do not transfer is scheduled for deletion after a 14-day grace period. Its members are notified immediately, and any admin of that space can claim ownership during those 14 days to keep it. If no one does, the space and its content are permanently deleted when the grace period ends.

We recommend transferring ownership before deleting your account to avoid disruption for other members.

After account deletion, we may retain limited information where required by law or necessary for:

• security and fraud prevention;
• dispute resolution;
• legal compliance and enforcement;
• backup restoration cycles (generally up to 30 days).
