Community Guidelines
Last updated: March 19th 2026 — Version 3
These Community Guidelines apply to registered users, LWV Guests ("LWV" stands for "Link Without Verification" — people accessing via an invite link without a full account), hosts, participants, and anyone using invite pages, events, chats, polls, lists, galleries, or direct messages on ooverlap. Violations may result in content removal, link deactivation, feature restrictions, account suspension, or permanent bans.
1. Age Requirement
ooverlap is intended for users aged 16 and older. Do not use the platform if you are under 16 (or below the minimum age required by applicable law in your country).
2. Respect Other People
Use ooverlap respectfully.
Do not:
- harass, bully, threaten, intimidate, or stalk others;
- insult or degrade people based on protected characteristics;
- encourage violence, abuse, or self-harm;
- pressure others into unwanted contact, participation, or disclosure;
- dox or expose private information without permission.
3. No Illegal, Exploitative, or Harmful Content
Do not use ooverlap to post, share, promote, or organize:
- illegal activity;
- fraud or scams;
- non-consensual sexual content;
- exploitative or coercive sexual content;
- extreme violence or graphic abuse;
- content that infringes privacy, publicity, or intellectual property rights;
- malware or harmful technical material.
4. Sexual Content and Sensitive Content
Do not post pornographic, sexually exploitative, or degrading content.
If you organize events involving sensitive, age-restricted, or regulated subject matter, you are responsible for ensuring that the event, invitations, and related content comply with applicable law.
5. You Are Responsible for What You Post
You are responsible for the content you post or upload, including:
- photos and videos;
- documents and PDFs;
- gallery uploads;
- comments;
- polls and lists;
- profile content;
- event descriptions;
- direct messages.
Only post content if you have the right to do so. If identifiable people appear in content, make sure you have any permissions reasonably required to share it.
6. Hosts Have Additional Responsibility
If you host an event, you are responsible for:
- setting it up accurately;
- managing visibility and link sharing;
- using invite links responsibly;
- moderating your event where host tools are available;
- handling real-world organization, changes, and cancellations.
Do not distribute invite links carelessly. If a link is shared too broadly, exposed content may be seen by anyone who receives access to it.
7. Privacy and Personal Data
Respect other people's privacy.
Do not share or expose another person's:
- email address;
- phone number;
- private address;
- travel details;
- tickets;
- ride details;
- personal documents;
- other sensitive information
without a lawful basis and permission.
Do not repost private event content outside its intended context in a way that harms, exposes, or endangers others.
8. Spam, Harassment, and Contact Abuse
Do not misuse invitations, direct messages, comments, guest flows, polls, lists, or other communication features.
This includes:
- spam;
- mass unwanted invitations;
- repeated unsolicited messages;
- deceptive promotional activity;
- phishing;
- abusive engagement tactics.
9. No Fake Identity or Manipulation
Do not:
- pretend to be another person;
- fake identity, attendance, or affiliation;
- create fake hosts, fake guests, or fake interactions;
- manipulate polls, lists, RSVPs, or event activity deceptively;
- misuse invite pages to deceive or harvest information.
10. No Scraping, Bots, or Security Abuse
Do not:
- scrape or extract data from ooverlap;
- use bots or unauthorized automation;
- bypass quotas, limits, or security controls;
- attempt unauthorized access to accounts, invite pages, or internal systems;
- reverse engineer the platform except where clearly permitted by law.
11. No Commercial Misuse
Do not use ooverlap primarily for:
- unauthorized commercial solicitation;
- mass lead generation;
- scraping contact or event data;
- competitive intelligence;
- building, training, or improving a competing service from ooverlap data.
12. Use Invite Pages Responsibly
Invite pages may expose selected event information to anyone with the relevant link.
Do not:
- post invite links publicly in a misleading or abusive way;
- use invite pages to bait, deceive, or harvest personal data;
- exploit guest flows, comments, or invites to harass or spam others;
- try to bypass host-set quotas or access restrictions.
13. Platform Integrity
Do not:
- file knowingly false abuse reports;
- create repeat abusive accounts;
- evade suspensions or bans;
- re-use deactivated invite links or work around enforcement;
- use the platform in a way that undermines trust, safety, or reliability.
14. Reporting and Enforcement
You can report problematic behavior or content through in-app reporting tools or via contact@ooverlap.app. You can also block other users to prevent them from contacting you or seeing your activity.
We may take action including:
- removing content;
- hiding comments, polls, media, or lists;
- disabling invite links;
- restricting features;
- suspending accounts;
- permanently banning users or guests;
- preserving information where needed for safety, fraud prevention, or legal reasons.
We may act immediately and without notice in serious cases.
15. Moderation Standard
We may remove content or restrict access where we believe there is:
- a violation of these Guidelines or the Terms;
- risk of harm;
- abuse of invite-page mechanics;
- illegal or infringing conduct;
- platform manipulation;
- safety, privacy, or reputational risk.
We assess context and severity case by case.
16. Appeals and Contact
If you believe action was taken in error, contact contact@ooverlap.app and explain:
- what happened;
- which account or event is affected;
- why you believe the action was incorrect.
We may review the matter, but we are not required to reverse a moderation decision.
