Child Safety Standards

The safety of children and minors is fundamental to ooverlap. We do not tolerate child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), child sexual abuse material (CSAM), grooming, sextortion, trafficking or any other conduct that sexually exploits, abuses or endangers a child or minor.

These standards apply across all relevant ooverlap services and content areas, including profiles, events, chats, direct messages, comments, polls, lists, galleries and invite pages. They apply to registered users, hosts, participants and guests who access ooverlap through invite links.

In developing our safeguards, we consider relevant industry guidance and the requirements of the platforms through which ooverlap is distributed.

ooverlap is intended for persons aged 16 and older. Persons under 16 may not create an account or use ooverlap as a registered user.

During registration, users are asked to enter their date of birth. A person who indicates that they are under 16 cannot complete registration or access a user account.

Users aged 16 or 17 may still be considered minors under applicable law and receive the protections applicable to minors.

Some invite pages may be viewable without an account. Unauthenticated visitors cannot use features restricted to registered users, and access may be limited where necessary for safety, privacy or legal compliance.

The following content and conduct are strictly prohibited on ooverlap:

• child sexual abuse material (CSAM), including visual depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct;
• sexualisation of children or minors, including sexualised text, images, videos, audio, emojis or descriptions;
• grooming a child or minor for sexual abuse or exploitation;
• sextortion, coercion or threats involving a child or minor;
• solicitation, facilitation or arrangement of sexual contact with a child or minor;
• trafficking, advertising or facilitating the sexual exploitation of a child or minor;
• sharing, requesting, possessing through the service, distributing or linking to CSAM;
• conduct that otherwise sexually exploits, abuses or endangers a child or minor.

Violations may result in immediate content removal, restricted access, account suspension or permanent removal from ooverlap. We notify competent law-enforcement or judicial authorities where required by applicable law or where necessary to protect a person from serious harm.

These prohibitions are also reflected in our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.

Anyone can report content or behaviour that may endanger a child or minor. You do not need to prove that a violation occurred. If something concerns you, report it.

In the app

Reporting is available through the report option associated with relevant content and accounts, including:

• user profiles;
• events and hangouts;
• chat messages and direct messages;
• voice and audio messages;
• comments;
• polls;
• photos and videos in galleries.

Invite pages

Guests who access an event through an invite link can report the event and the reportable content available on that page.

By email

Child-safety concerns can also be sent to contact@ooverlap.app. Please include available information that may help us locate and assess the concern, such as a link, event name, account name or description. Do not download, reproduce or email suspected CSAM.

Every report is routed to the responsible moderation function and prioritised according to the severity and immediacy of the risk.

When we obtain actual knowledge of CSAM or CSAE on ooverlap, we act promptly in accordance with our policies and applicable law. Depending on the circumstances, we may:

• remove the relevant content or disable access to it;
• suspend or permanently remove involved accounts;
• deactivate invite links or restrict affected events;
• securely preserve relevant evidence, account information and metadata only where legally permitted or required and only for as long as necessary;
• report confirmed CSAM to NCMEC where applicable and/or to the competent law-enforcement or judicial authority;
• cooperate with lawful requests from competent child-protection, law-enforcement and judicial authorities.

Where information available to us gives rise to a suspicion that a criminal offence involving a threat to the life or safety of a person has taken place, is taking place or is likely to take place, we promptly notify the competent law-enforcement or judicial authority where required by Article 18 of the Digital Services Act or other applicable law.

Reports are reviewed through our moderation process. Authorised reviewers can, where supported by the relevant feature:

• remove or restrict access to messages, comments, media, polls and events;
• suspend or permanently remove accounts;
• deactivate invite links;
• preserve legally relevant information under access controls;
• escalate urgent matters to the designated child-safety contact.

We may act immediately and without prior notice in serious cases, including suspected CSAE, imminent danger or a risk of further dissemination. Enforcement actions are taken in accordance with applicable law, our Terms of Service and our Community Guidelines.

ooverlap provides safety controls in addition to reporting:

• Blocking: users can block another user from the relevant profile or communication interface. A blocked user can no longer contact or invite the blocking user through supported features.
• Manage blocked users: users can review and manage blocked accounts in the app settings.
• Invite-link controls: hosts can deactivate invite links to prevent further access through those links.

ooverlap maintains procedures to comply with applicable child-safety and reporting laws. These procedures cover confirmed CSAM, legally reportable suspicions, urgent threats to life or safety, preservation of relevant information and cooperation with competent authorities.

We review these standards as our product, moderation procedures and applicable legal requirements change.

Our designated child-safety point of contact receives child-safety notifications, including notifications from app distribution platforms, and can address questions concerning our review and enforcement procedures.
